Research
I work in the area of Hebrew Bible and its reception in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. My recent work focusd on Judaism in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt.
My book explores the role that water played in Jewish narratives composed in Egypt. Looking specifically at the exodus story, I analyzed four Jewish texts (Artapanus' On the Jews, Ezekiel the Tragedian's Exagoge, Wisdom of Solomon, and Philo of Alexandria's Life of Moses) to demonstrate how the hydric environment of Egypt played a significant role in shaping the lives and writings of the Jews of Egypt.
